Mega Man 2 Boss Order: Every Weakness and the Best Order to Beat Them

The best boss order in Mega Man 2 is Metal Man, Bubble Man, Heat Man, Wood Man, Air Man, Crash Man, Flash Man and Quick Man. Every Robot Master gives you a weapon when you beat him, and every weapon is the weak spot of another boss, so this order lets you fight each one with the weapon that hurts him most. Every Robot Master’s weakness

The Metal Blade appears three times in the weakness column: it is the weapon that makes the rest of the game easier. It also fires in eight directions and costs very little energy.

The best order, boss by boss

1. Metal Man with the Mega Buster. His stage is fair and his Metal Blade is the most useful weapon in the game.
2. Bubble Man with the Metal Blade. Three or four hits of the Metal Blade finish him.
3. Heat Man with the Bubble Lead. The Bubble Lead rolls along the floor into him, and you win Item-1.
4. Wood Man with the Atomic Fire. A fully charged Atomic Fire takes a big piece of his energy.
5. Air Man with the Leaf Shield. Throw the Leaf Shield when his tornadoes stop; you win Item-2.
6. Crash Man with the Air Shooter. The Air Shooter catches him in the air when he jumps.
7. Flash Man with the Metal Blade. The Metal Blade again; you win the Time Stopper and Item-3.
8. Quick Man with the Crash Bomber. The hardest of the eight; the Time Stopper also drains his energy.

After the eight Robot Masters, the stage select screen opens Dr. Wily’s castle, a run of stages that ends with a rematch against all eight bosses and Dr. Wily himself.

Items 1, 2 and 3

Three bosses give you a tool as well as a weapon. Item-1 (from Heat Man) is a platform that floats up, Item-2 (from Air Man) is a jet sled that flies straight ahead, and Item-3 (from Flash Man) climbs up walls. Parts of Dr. Wily’s castle can’t be crossed without them, so win all three before you go in.

Tips

• Choose NORMAL. The North American version added a Normal mode in which your weapons do more damage. The original Japanese game was the Difficult mode.
• Save the E-tanks. Each E-tank refills your energy once, at any moment. Keep them for the bosses of Dr. Wily’s castle.
• Write down the password after each boss, or use a save state on our page.
• Switch weapons in the menu. Press Start (Enter on a keyboard) during a stage to open it.
