## In short

Wordplank is a word-unscramble puzzle with wooden letter tiles. The letters of each word sit in the wrong order: tap two tiles to swap them and put the word back together before the clock runs out. Pick timed mode for plain words, image hints to name a picture, text hints for a short clue, or sentence mode to put whole words in order. No typing and no dragging, just taps.

**How to control it:** Computer: click a letter tile, then click a second tile to swap the two. Keep swapping until the letters spell the word, before the clock at the top right reaches zero. On the title screen choose Timed Mode, Image Hints, Text Hints or Sentences. In Text Hints press the question mark button to read the clue. The sound and music buttons at the top left of the title screen switch the audio on and off.

**Wordplank** is an online word-unscramble puzzle that runs in your browser. Every word comes with its letters on wooden tiles in the wrong order. You tap one tile, tap a second tile and the two swap places. Keep swapping until the word reads right, before the clock at the top right runs out. Press a mode on the title screen and you are playing.

## How to play

1. On the title screen choose **Timed Mode** , **Image Hints** , **Text Hints** or **Sentences** .
2. Look at the scrambled tiles. In the picture and clue modes, the picture or the clue tells you the word.
3. **Click a tile, then click another tile.** The two tiles swap places.
4. Repeat until the letters spell the word. The score at the top goes up and the next word appears. In our test, each three-letter word we solved added 100 points.
5. Watch the clock: it showed 28 seconds at the start of the first round in every mode.

## The four modes

- **Timed Mode:** plain scrambled words of three to seven letters.
- **Image Hints:** a cartoon picture sits above the tiles and the word is what the picture shows.
- **Text Hints:** the question mark button in the corner shows a short clue, such as "Carries lots of stuff".
- **Sentences:** the tiles are whole words; put them in order until the sentence reads right. The first sentence grows from two words to seven.

## Tips

- Fix the letters that are already in the right place and only move the others.
- A word never needs more swaps than it has letters minus one. Our [word unscramble tips](https://yesthisgame.com/blog/word-unscramble-tips/) show what that means for the clock.
- Look for pairs that belong together: a Q is always followed by U in the timed words we checked.
- In sentence mode, find the word that starts the sentence first.
