Metal Slug X

Metal Slug X is Metal Slug 2 done again, faster and fuller. SNK reworked the 1998 game with new weapons, new enemy placements and the slowdown taken out, and many players think it is the best game in the series. Marco, Tarma, Eri and Fio fight through six missions of hand-drawn chaos, from the desert to a final battle against the alien mothership. It is SNK’s 1999 Neo Geo game, and it plays right here in your browser with no download.

How to play

1. Press Play under the title picture and wait a moment while the arcade machine starts.
2. Press Coin (V on a keyboard) to add a credit, then Start (Enter).
3. Pick Marco, Eri, Tarma or Fio.
4. Move and aim with the arrow keys, shoot with Z, jump with X and throw a grenade with C.
5. Free the bearded prisoners: they give you weapons such as the heavy machine gun, the shotgun, the rocket launcher and the flame shot.
6. Jump into a Metal Slug tank or another vehicle for heavy firepower. Watch out for mummies and the food that makes your soldier fat.

Controls

Computer: arrow keys move and aim, Z shoots, X jumps, C throws a grenade, V adds a coin and Enter is Start. Move the mouse over the game to show the bar with pause, restart, sound, save state, load state and full screen buttons.

Phone and tablet: the pad under the game has the cross, A (shoot), B (jump), C (grenade), and Coin and Start buttons.

A USB or Bluetooth gamepad also works.

Cheats

Press the magic wand button next to the full screen button above the game. A small panel opens over the game, and the game waits until you close it. The cheats switch on a few seconds after the machine has started.

• Unlimited lives: you never run out of lives.
• Unlimited bombs: your grenades never run out.
• Invincible: enemies can’t hurt you.
• Infinite time: the mission timer never runs out.

Reloading the page turns the cheats off again.

About Metal Slug X

SNK released Metal Slug X for the Neo Geo arcade system in 1999. It reuses the missions of Metal Slug 2 with new routes, weapons and bosses, and removes much of the slowdown of the original. It was later ported to many home systems.
