Captain Commando

Captain Commando is Capcom’s science fiction beat ’em up. In the year 2026 crime rules Metro City, and the hero Captain Commando and his Commando Team take on the gang of the mad scientist Scumocide. You fight through the futuristic city and beyond, and across nine stages you can ride mechs and fire guns. This is the 1991 Capcom arcade game, and it plays right here in your browser with no download.

How to play

1. Press Play under the title picture and wait a moment while the arcade machine starts.
2. Press Coin (V on a keyboard) to add a credit, then Start (Enter).
3. Pick Captain Commando, Mack the Knife, Ginzu the Ninja or Baby Head and press attack.
4. Walk with the arrow keys, attack with Z and jump with X. Keep pressing Z for a combo, and run by tapping a direction twice.
5. Press Z and X together for a special attack that hits everyone around you. It costs a little energy.
6. Knock an enemy off his mech, then jump onto it to ride it. Mechs punch, breathe fire or freeze, and have their own energy bar. Pick up guns and food on the way.

Controls

Computer: arrow keys walk, Z attacks, X jumps, Z + X is the special attack, V adds a coin and Enter is Start. Move the mouse over the game to show the bar with pause, restart, sound, save state, load state and full screen buttons.

Phone and tablet: the pad under the game has the cross, A to attack, B to jump, and Coin and Start buttons.

A USB or Bluetooth gamepad also works.

Cheats

Press the magic wand button next to the full screen button above the game. A small panel opens over the game, and the game waits until you close it. The cheats switch on a few seconds after the machine has started.

• Unlimited lives: you never run out of lives.
• Unlimited energy: your energy bar stays full.
• Invincible: enemies can’t hurt you.

Reloading the page turns the cheats off again.

• Captain Commando: the leader, with an energy glove that fires flame and electricity.
• Mack the Knife: an alien mummy with a pair of blades.
• Ginzu the Ninja: a fast ninja with a sword.
• Baby Head: a baby genius who fights from inside a powerful robot.

About Captain Commando

Capcom released Captain Commando in arcades in 1991. The hero began as a mascot on Capcom’s game boxes in the 1980s: his name is built from the company’s own name, CAPtain COMmando. The game shares its city with Final Fight, and its future year, 2026, has now arrived for real.
