Plungetower

Plungetower is a one-tap arcade game that runs in your browser. A ball sits on top of a tower of colorful rings. You press and hold, the ball drops and smashes down through the rings, and you try to reach the bottom without touching a dark segment. There is nothing to read and no menu to learn: press the button and the tower starts coming apart.

How to play

1. Wait for the start screen with the words Tap to Play.
2. Press and hold the left mouse button. The ball drops and smashes the rings under it.
3. Avoid the dark segments. Touching one ends the run and the Game Over screen shows your score and your highest score.
4. Watch the bar at the top: it runs from level 1 to level 2 and fills as you smash.
5. At the bottom, the Level Completed screen shows confetti. Click to go on to the next level, or click to restart after a Game Over.

What you see on screen

• Progress bar: two round level markers at the top with a bar between them.
• Score: a number under the bar. In our test, a level 1 run that reached the bottom showed 16 points every time (10 of 10 runs).
• Circle meter: a circle that appears around the ball and builds while you keep smashing.
• Tower: a new color each level; the game files hold five ring shapes (circle, flower, hexagon, spikes and square).
• Gear button: at the bottom left of the start screen, it brings up a sound button.

Tips

• Start by holding the button the whole way: in our 14 runs doing only that, 10 cleared level 1.
• A dark segment is the only thing that ended a run, so look at it before you press.
• If the score reads 16 on the Level Completed screen, that is the level 1 total we saw.

How do you play Plungetower?

Can you win just by holding the button?

Often. In 14 test runs where we only held the button, 10 cleared level 1. The other 4 ended in Game Over at 1, 6, 13 and 16 points.

Is my highest score saved?

Yes. The highest score was still on the Game Over screen after we reloaded the page, so it is kept on your device.

Is Plungetower free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Yes This Game, with no download and no sign-up.

Can I play it on a phone?

The game is made for a computer and a mouse. If it loads on your phone, how well it runs depends on the phone.
