About Rustwalker

Rustwalker is a 3D mech shooting game that runs in your browser. You start in a hangar, pick a walking mech, fit weapon modules to it and then step into the cockpit for a mission in a desert base. The goal on screen is short and clear: destroy all targets.

How to play

  1. Wait for the game to load. It is about 81 MB, so the first load takes a moment. A Made with Unity screen shows first.
  2. In the hangar, click the arrow next to the mech to switch between the two mechs.
  3. Click Customize to see the list of modules and the four module mounts, pick a module and click Equip. Click Vehicle to go back.
  4. Click Start Mission at the top right. You see the world from the mech’s cockpit.
  5. Move the mouse to aim, press W to move forward and click the left mouse button to fire.
  6. Follow the objective at the top left of the screen and the radar at the top right.

What you see on screen

  • Objectives: text at the top left that reads Destroy all targets.
  • Radar: a small square at the top right that shows the area around you.
  • Mech icons: one in each bottom corner, with a cyan bar next to the left one.
  • Aiming brackets: square brackets in the middle of the screen.
  • Effects: fireballs, sparks and orange tracer fire when shots land.

Game features

  • Two walking mechs to choose from, an orange one and a green one
  • A Customize screen with a list of 5 modules and 4 mounts
  • First-person cockpit view with radar
  • A desert base with buildings, sand and mountains in the distance
  • Mouse aiming and keyboard movement
  • No sign-up and no ads inside the game

Controls

  • Mouse: aim
  • Left mouse button: fire
  • W: move forward
  • Arrow next to the mech (hangar): switch mech

The game’s input settings also list the A, S and D keys and the arrow keys for moving, Space, Q and E, and right mouse and Shift for other actions. We did not try each of them, so this page lists only the controls we confirmed.

Tips

  • Look around with the mouse before you move: the base and the open desert are in different directions at the start.
  • Check Customize before the mission; the modules change what the mech carries.
  • Watch the radar at the top right to see where things are around you.
  • Read our mech shooting game controls guide for what we found in the hangar and in the mission.

Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Yes This Game, with no download and no sign-up.

No. The game has no touch controls, so on a phone or tablet the page asks you to open it on a computer with a keyboard and a mouse.
